12/15-12/19

Wow! Such an exciting week!

In Reading, we have been reading about a boy named Sammy with a pet snail, Slowpoke. Wednesday, December 17, I would like to have a "Pet Show" in our class.  Each student needs to bring a stuffed animal and tell about it.  The stuffed animal must fit in their bookbag. Please go over with your child what they might say at the pet show about their pet.

Friday, December 19, we will be having our Christmas party at 11:00.  Please join us! We would love it!

The Christmas Play was a success!  The students did an awesome job!

Tuesday, December 9, will be D.E.A.R. Day. The theme is Christmas.  Please encourage the students to dress up.  It is a competition.

Don't forget we will start back into Spelling Tests!  We will have a test on Wednesday, December 10.

I sent home new Bible verses on Friday, December 5.  Our test will be on Wednesday, December 17.


We will be having our Christmas party on Friday, December 19, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.  We would love for each of you to join us for our Christmas celebration. I would like to do an art based gift exchange of no more than $10.00.  Please make sure that the gift could be for a boy or girl.  Please send it in wrapped by Thursday, December 18.

11/17-11/21

D.E.A.R. Day will be on Tuesday, November 18. Each student will need to bring up to 5 books to read for 30 minutes by themselves.

Our school Thanksgiving dinner will be on Wednesday, November 19.  Our class will eat from 10:45-11:30.  If you signed up to eat with us, we will see you there.

We will be having a small fall party on Wednesday, November 19 from 11:30-12:15 in our room. We have two parents that have volunteered to take care of the party.  If you would like to come, we would love to have you.

Progress reports went home on Thursday, November 13. Please make sure that they are returned signed.

11/10-11/14

There will be no school on Tuesday, November 11, for Veteran's Day! Thank you to all that have served our country! We really appreciate you!

We will be having our Practice Spelling Test on Monday, November 10.

We have started practicing for the Christmas program.  The students may have a little more homework than normal for the next few weeks.  Please make sure their folders and planners are checked daily.  The Christmas play will be on Thursday, December 4 at 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Our November Bible test will be on Friday, November 13.

We are running very low on Treasure Chest items.  If you would like to donate to it, items may not cost more that $1.00. Thank you so much for your support.

We are going to start collecting food this week for our mission.  We sent information home on Friday, October 31.

Some of the students are in need of new twistable colored pencils or crayons.  

I am very proud to report that the students are doing much better with their behavior which means they are getting in the treasure box more often.  If you would like to donate treasure chest items, we would appreciate it.  The items may not cost any more than $1.00.

We will be having Vacation Bible School this week for Bible class!!  The secondary students have worked very hard to put it together for us.  It is called WOW (Women of the Word).  

Chapel will be on Friday, October 17 instead of Thursday this week.

D.E.A.R. Day will be Tuesday, October 14.  Each student will need to bring books to read for 30 minutes on their own.

Report Cards will go home on Tuesday, October 14.

Violations start over on Monday, October 13.

The end of the nine weeks will be on Friday, October 10. Our violations will start over on Monday, October 13.

If you have addition and subtraction math fact cards, please encourage your child to review them. They are tested every week on math facts and this will help them from here on out.

Please make sure your child is doing their Reading homework.  The students need to read once by themselves and once to an adult.

Each student owes $16.00 to NLCA for student planners and "God's World News".  The students will be using the planners everyday for homework assignments and test reminders.  They will be in their 3 ring binder everyday and must be signed by a parent everyday.

Also if you have not turned in the $5.00 from the school supply list, please do so as soon as possible.


Our first Spelling test will be Wednesday, August 27. Don't forget students may turn in one written list of spelling words per weekday night signed by a parent for a bonus point toward their spelling test.

8/18-8/22

We have had a great week in Second Grade!  The students are adjusting well!  Please remember to review the new discipline policy at home and talk about what being responsible, respectful, Christlike, and showing kindness means.

I sent Bible verses home with the students on Friday.  Their first Bible test will be next Friday, August 22.

Our Spelling list will go home on Wednesday, August 20. Our first test will be on Wednesday, August 27.

Grandparent's Day will be Friday, September 26.  Please send a picture in of your child's grandparents.  This can be a picture with or without the child on it.  Please make sure it is only a copy and you keep the original in case it would get damaged.  I will be sending a note home next week for you to fill out how many grandparents your child will have attending.

Welcome Back!

Welcome to Second Grade! I am so excited to get this school year started!  We will be having Open House on Friday, August 8 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. I will be anxiously waiting for each one of you and  ready to answer any questions that you may have about Second Grade. If you have your supplies, you may bring them to Open House. See you very soon!!
