9/16-9/20

DEAR day is Tuesday, September 10. The theme is Mountaineer Day. The students may bring a few books from home to read for 30 minutes.

Picture day is Wednesday, September 11.

Blocks will count as 5 minutes now instead of 2 minutes.

Second grade students are having trouble with playing with items during class.  If I take something from a child at their desk, they may not have it back until the end of the school year unless a parent or guardian comes to get it.

Please encourage your child to practice math facts at home as well as reading books.

Laiken will be our first student of the week!

Student of the Week:
Monday: Show 3 pictures of themselves

Tuesday: Favorite childhood book
Wednesday: Favorite item such as toy
Thursday: Pictures of a favorite place to visit
Friday: Favorite Snack to share with class

Tests this week:
Tuesday: Bible
Wednesday: Spelling and Arithmetic
Friday: Phonics

Please make sure all students are reading their Reading homework twice by themselves and once to an adult.

Have a great 3 day weekend!  See you on Tuesday!

8/26-8/30

We are off to a good start!

If any parent is willing to volunteer, please let me know.  I would like to have a couple of volunteers to come in and make copies, take books apart, read to my class, and help plan and organize parties.

I will be sending home Bible Verses for the month and our first Spelling List next week.  Our first Bible test will be on Tuesday, September 3, and our first Spelling Test will be on Wednesday, September 4.

Students will switch classes this year for Phonics and Arithmetic.  I will be teaching both 1st and 2nd grade Arithmetic this year, and Mrs. Eades will be teaching both 1st and 2nd grade Phonics this year.

Please make sure that the children have tennis shoes in their book bags if they do not wear them to school.

Please take a look at the dress code on our main webpage.  We are not allowed to wear tank tops and flip flops,  and shorts have to be within 2 inches above the knee.

If you have any concerns or questions, please contact me through email or call the school office and leave a message with Mrs. Annie, and I will call you back.

Don't forget students will be bringing home their behavior charts on Fridays.  They must be signed and returned on the following Monday.

Have a great weekend!
