Friday, February 13, 2015

2/16-2/20 UPDATED

Hello Second Grade!

I have thought a lot about our Literature Fair projects.  I want the students to be able to take their time and be creative with their projects.  Due to the weather, I do not feel they will have the time to do their best on pair projects.  So, I have decided that we will use our class project "Queen Victoria's Bathing Machine" in the school Literature Fair, but we will have a Second Grade Literature Fair in our classroom later in the year.  The students were excited to work together, and I was excited to help them individually and see the great ideas they come up with. This is the best plan that I can come up with for now.

While the students are off, I would like for them to read a Second Grade level book and write a small summary on it.  I had discussed with them how to write a summary by answering these few questions...who, wanted, but, so, and then. This summary will only be 2-4 sentences long. Also, as of right now our spelling test will still be on Wednesday.  Please make sure the students are studying their spelling words and that they know 1John 4:7-8.

Our Valentine's Party will be rescheduled for Tuesday, February 17, at 1:30.  Please bring your valentines in that day.

If your child brought a book home on Wednesday, please make sure they return it on Monday, February 16.  Their partner will be taking it home on Monday.

Please encourage your children to be thinking about how their project will be decorated.  We are going to do our best to get everything completed next week. The students will definitely have a few homework assignments for this project.  Please check their planners daily.

Have a wonderful Valentine's Day everyone!! It's perfect day to celebrate God's love for all of us!
