1/28-2/1

This week is Spirit week at school!  The theme is "Thirsty".  Please encourage the children to dress up and learn the memory verse.  We get points for participation!
 
The theme memory verse is "For He satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things." Psalm 107:9
 

Monday: Red Carpet Day-Dress Up like you are attending a special event!
Tuesday: Steve Urkel Day-Dress in your best "nerd" outfit!
Wednesday: Dress like you are 100 years old!
Thursday: Thirsty Thursday- Dress like your favorite beverage!
Friday:  Western Day-Dress as Cowboys or Indians!

Please continue to work with the students on responsibility encouraging them to take care of getting out and puttingaway  homework, turning homework in the next day, and taking care of desks, folders, and bookbags themselves. 

Please practice Spelling words every night! Each school day prior to a test, if your child brings me his/her written list of spelling words signed by a parent that they have completed the previous evening at home, I will offer 1 bonus point towards their test!

Please continue to work on Math facts 1-14 (addition and subtraction).

We are still collecting boxtops! All money will go toward the end of the year fun day!

The Prince of the Week is Josiah!

Tests this week: (We will have two Phonics tests this week)
Monday: Take home Reading test and Bible (Psalm 1:5-6)
Tuesday: Phonics and Arithmetic!
Wednesday: Spelling and Penmanship!
Thursday: Bible (Psalm 1:1-6) and Oral Reading!
Friday: Phonics!

If the students wrote their 20 sentences on Tuesday and turned them in Wednesday this past week, they will receive 5 extra bonus points toward the first Phonics test this week!

I am working with the students on responsibility such as taking care of their desks, folders, and cleaning up after themselves. It is their job to make sure they take folders home and turn in papers to me. Please encourage your children to take care of organizing their own work, putting their own papers and notes in their folders to return to me, and unloading their things when they get to school.

Please practice Spelling words every night! Each school day prior to a test, if your child brings me his/her written list of spelling words signed by a parent that they have completed the previous evening at home, I will offer 1 bonus point towards their test!

We won for boxtops this past month.  We had a pizza party on Friday 1/4/13.  We are still collecting them. You can send boxtops in anytime.

Wednesday, January 9 is D.E.A.R Day!  The theme is Winter.

We are working on Math Facts for 1-13 addition and subtraction.  Please help your children review these with games or flash cards. 

If you send in a note signed that you read this blog.  I will give your child 5 bonus points toward their Math or Phonics test!
